Is it cheaper to order from the US?

The DUTCH™ test is made by Precision Analytical in the United States, and US retail prices are quoted in US dollars and vary by the practitioner or reseller you order through. For a Canadian buyer, ordering domestically is usually the better value once you account for three hidden costs of cross-border ordering:

  • Currency exchange — a USD price is larger than it looks after conversion to CAD, plus card foreign-transaction fees.
  • Customs & duties — kits shipped from the US can be held or charged at the border.
  • Cross-border sample return — returning a biological sample internationally is slower, costlier, and riskier than dropping it in a Canada Post box.

Dutch Test Canada pricing is all-in CAD, ships from within Canada, and keeps your sample return domestic — no surprise conversion or border charges.

Is the DUTCH™ test covered by insurance in Canada?

The DUTCH™ test is a private functional test. It is not covered by provincial health plans such as OHIP (Ontario), AHCIP (Alberta), MSP (British Columbia), or RAMQ (Quebec). However, many Canadians offset the cost in one of these ways:

  • Private health / extended benefits — some plans reimburse testing ordered by a qualifying practitioner. Check your plan's lab-testing and naturopathic allowances.
  • HSA / FSA accounts — DUTCH™ tests are typically eligible. See HSA & FSA eligibility →

Coverage varies by provider and plan. Confirm eligibility with your insurer or benefits administrator before ordering.

Cost FAQ

A standard blood test shows hormone levels at one moment. The DUTCH™ test captures the daily cortisol rhythm, free and metabolized cortisol, and the metabolites that reveal how your body processes and clears hormones — information a single blood draw cannot provide. The price reflects multi-sample collection and advanced mass-spectrometry analysis at the lab.

The DUTCH™ Adrenal at $569 CAD is the most affordable full panel, focused on the cortisol pattern, cortisol metabolites, cortisone and DHEA-S. If you want sex hormones included, the DUTCH™ Complete at $699 is the most comprehensive single-day option.

Outbound shipping of the kit to you is free and included. Return postage to mail your completed samples to the laboratory is paid by you — a return envelope is included in the kit, and dried samples are stable at room temperature for several weeks.

In most cases, yes — DUTCH™ hormone testing is typically eligible for HSA and FSA reimbursement. See our HSA & FSA page for details, and confirm with your plan administrator.

No referral is required and there is no separate ordering fee. A licensed practitioner contracted by Dutch Test Canada reviews your intake form and orders the test — the cost is included in the panel price. Start your intake form →
